Our choir seasons usually run from September to June, so with the coming together in 1953 of the separate choirs of Warwick and Kenilworth into the Warwick and Kenilworth Choral Society for its first concert on New Year’s Day in 1954, we will begin our 70th Anniversary Season on Monday, 4th September 2023. After a successful summer concert on 15th July of popular choruses and folk songs at St John’s Church, Kenilworth, we said our goodbyes and thanks to David Wynne as our Musical Director, we wish him, Alexandra (who sang so beautifully at that concert) and their family well in their relocation to Northumberland.
Just ten days later, the WKCS Committee were pleased to announce that our new Musical Director will be Laura Bailie, she will be taking up her post from the start of term in September and putting us through our paces for our November concert, where we will be performing two Mozart works, his Requiem and Coronation Mass. Please see Laura’s biography on our Musical Director page.
Time moves on and Laura left us after the December 2024 Messiah Concert. She will be replaced by Alex Silverman in January 2025. Please see the Musical Director Page for more information.
If you’re a member of the choir, it would be great if you could bring a friend along to try us out! Not a member? Come along anyway! We always welcome new members to the choir and you can attend a couple of rehearsals before committing to becoming a member.
We hope we’ll see many of you at Coten End Primary School, Warwick for our first rehearsal on Monday, 6 January 2025 at 7:00pm, ready to take up the challenge of the new term!

Great result for the Verdi concert in aid of Myton Hospice.
The total amount raised was £4,571, (including bucket collection, and direct donations), which far exceeds our initial expectations. A ceremony when committee members handed over a cheque to Myton took place on the 13th June 2023. It was a tremendous effort by the combined forces of Coventry Philharmonic Society, ourselves and the Leamington Chamber Orchestra to raise this amount. And we had a tremendous concert on top!
Adrian from Warwick and Kenilworth Choral Society and Colin from Coventry Philharmonic Choir had the great pleasure of officially presenting The Myton Hospices with a cheque for £4,571.43 following our fundraising concert. Thank you to all those who supported us to raise this amount for such a worthy cause.
PLEASE PASS ANY ITEMS OF NEWS TO A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE.
